-One thing most people notice about Calcite are his goggles. He tends to forget them, so most of the time he wears them over his eyes, which has spooked some people before. Lifting them up shows that he has massive bags under his eyes, so most of the time he doesn't take the goggles off, just so people won't worry. While he is often seen with various bags and toolbelts, Calcite always has his goggles and scarf on. Some say he even sleeps with them, when he does actually sleep.
-His build is around average for his tribe, although his wings are a bit bigger than most. It doesn't make him faster however, as he frequently loses races against others of his age. He can soar more easily though, and stay in the air for longer without getting tired. Calcite usually prefers to stay on the ground though, as he tends to knock things down with his wings, so the extra size doesn't help his endurance much.

-Calcite very much lives in the present. He isn't bothered much by the past or future, which often results in him doing stupid things, without thinking about the consequences. Technically he is really smart, but Calcite seems to forget this most of the time. He is very easily distracted by pretty much anything, which makes it difficult for him to learn anything he isn't actually interested in.
-While it is not exactly easy to scare him, Calcite tends to get very stressed, which usually results in him doing even more stupid stuff. He has a tendency to panic when in a particularly bad situation, which often ends in someone (usually himself) getting hurt. Making good decisions really isn't one of his strengths.

Calcite's name is quite well known to many Skywings and other scientists. To those outside of the palace, he is an amazing inventor and a genius, while those that live anywhere around him know him as the guy that blows something up almost every day, which often is his own home or lab.
His family is distantly related to the current Queen. Not close enough for any of them to be able to challenge her for the throne, but still related enough that they can be considered royal. Calcite's parents would often brag about their royal blood, and try to use it as an excuse to get better treatment.
Since he was young, Calcite had been sent to various private schools, each one claiming they were only for the most gifted dragonets. The young Skywing never felt comfortable in any of them, as they were all too strict for him, and left school after a few years, deciding to work on his own instead. The rumors that he blew up his last school had nothing to do with that, of course.
Although he still lived until the palace (until recently), Calcite didn't interact with his family much, as they were disappointed in him for leaving school. He doesn't really care about them, as he prefers to use his time to work on his inventions.
